Workplace Injury Care

WorkCover and workplace injuries

Specialist sport and exercise medicine assessment and management for accepted WorkCover Queensland claims. Diagnosis, treatment, structured rehabilitation, and clear return-to-work planning that respects both the worker and the workplace.

Approved WorkCover Queensland claims are accepted at Specialist Sports Medicine, on the Sunshine Coast (Noosa & Maroochydore). Specialist assessment, treatment, and structured return-to-work planning, delivered with the same clinical care provided to private patients, with the documentation that the WorkCover system requires.

What is covered

  • Acute and persistent musculoskeletal injuries arising from work
  • Specialist assessment and diagnosis
  • Imaging requests under specialist Medicare or WorkCover funding
  • Injection therapies where indicated
  • Coordination with treating GP, physiotherapist, and surgeon
  • Structured return-to-work planning with the employer

The clinical care is the same regardless of the funding source. WorkCover patients are managed alongside private patients with the same clinical standard.

How the process works

  1. Confirm your claim is accepted

Have your WorkCover Queensland claim number, your insurer details (most often WorkCover Queensland; in some cases, a self-insured employer), and your case manager's contact details ready when you book.

  2. Bring relevant documentation

GP referral, current Work Capacity Certificate, prior imaging and reports, any specialist or allied health correspondence, and the names of any doctors or allied health practitioners involved in your case.

  3. Specialist consultation

A standard specialist sports medicine appointment, with documentation prepared in the format WorkCover requires.

  4. Plan and follow-up

You leave with a clear written plan. Reports are sent to your case manager and treating practitioners with your consent.

Return-to-work planning

Return to work is part of recovery, not an obstacle to it. Where appropriate, suitable duties and graduated return are recommended. The plan respects your injury and capacity while supporting the well-evidenced finding that staying connected to work generally improves recovery.

Common questions

Do I have to pay anything?

Approved WorkCover claims cover specialist consultation costs once the insurer has accepted the claim. Reception confirms the situation at booking. WorkCover's cancellation and did-not-attend (DNA) policy applies: a missed or short-notice appointment may not be covered by the insurer, and a fee may apply.

Can I see this clinic for a CTP or third party claim?

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) and third-party insurance claims may be accepted depending on the circumstances. Discuss with reception when you book.

What if my claim is disputed?

Specialist assessment and a clear independent report often help. The clinic does not advocate for or against the claim; the role is medical, not legal.
